Picasa Shut Down

Today, Google made a Big announcement that It’s gonna kill its PICASA software. Google has decided to shift its attention and investment towards Google Photos which was launched last year and has Recieved many postive Responses.

Google chief Anil Sabharwal mentioned in a blog:

“We believe we can create a much better experience by focusing on one service that provides more functionality and works across mobile and desktop, rather than divide our efforts across two different products.“

Users would be still able to edit, view and delete photos in picasa But Now onward Google will be ending its support for it, and users would not be able to edit the images online. For those who want to download Picasa can download it until 1 May 2016.

We apologize for any inconvenience this transition causes, but we want to assure you that we are doing this with the aim of providing the best photos experience possible, Sabharwal said.

Google will be putting you picasa Web Album Photos, Videos, Albums directly into google photos account. If you don’t want to use google photos account for viewing your picasa Web Album Photos then Google will be providing a those photos,videos at a separate place.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this transition causes, but we want to assure you that we are doing this with the aim of providing the best photos experience possible,” – Sabharwal said. “Google Photos is a new and smarter product.”

With focus now on Google Photos, the company recently updated the app and service with new features.
